Bamboo Shark Aquarium

Here are some pictures of my 200 gallon Bamboo shark (Chiloscyllium plagiosum). I have a male and a female, they are about 36" long and share the tank with a Yellow Headed ( Gymnothorax fimbriatus) that is about 30" long and a Panther Grouper (Cromileptes altivelis) that is about 12" long. They have been in this aquarium for about 9 months and have adapted well. There where 2 red hermits and one green hermit crab of which they ate both of the red ones. They get fed every other day and eat about 1 pound of seafood per week, mostly squid, jumbo shrimp and scallops. There is a 50 gallon sump under the tank, a large protein skimmer and a UV sterilizer. I hope to breed them soon.

Marine Saltwater Fish

This is a short list of pages that sell marine fish to the public on the Internet, so far the reviews I have seen are good.

Aqua Deals
This is a nice site, very organized, and the major advantage they have is that all the fish you see for sale is in stock waiting for you to buy them today.

TONMO

(The Octopus News Magazine Online)
This site is dedicated entirely to cephalopods (octopus, squid, cuttlefish (sepia), and nautilus), their captive care, culture, study, and history. That I have found it is probably the most complete site on this subject. There are articles and forums covering more than the average number of queries. Whether your questions are about aquarium setup and maintenance , breeding, feeding, care sheets, pop culture, marine conservation, fossils etc. chances are you will find your answer here!

Most of the information is free but you can pay a subscription and gain access to their private "Supporters Forums". If you are considering to become an octopus owner and even if you already have some experience with cephalopods this is a site you don't want to miss.

The Florida Collector

This is a fairly simple site, easy to navigate. It was put together by a gentleman in Florida that collects only animals indigenous to the Florida Keys…In my opinion one of the best reasons to do business with this man are his wonderful seahorses! Not only does he have the cheapest dwarf seahorses (hippocampos zosterae) you will ever find. He sends beautiful healthy, specimens. In my last order he even included a few extra, in case of d.o.a. (dead on arrivals). None of them were dead! In fact within a week they were giving birth and breeding! Our original 10 we ordered were numbering over 50 in 3 months time! He also has a limited variety of other marine life. (ie. giant seahorses, damsels, cowfish, toadfish, pipe fish, various crabs, shrimp, starfish, anemones, jellyfish, sponges, corals, gorgonians, etc. as well as live macro-algae.) He does not sell aquarium supplies, just live animals.

Down side is that since is a small operation, it may take a while (2 or 3 weeks) for you to get your fish, as he does all of the collecting himself. But once you get them you will not be disappointed. Some animals are seasonal. I have had personal experience with him and was very pleased with his professionalism and integrity. My dwarfs arrived in great shape!

saltwaterfish.com

This site has a lot to offer for the Marine Hobbyist... Overall it is easy to navigate and to order from. And the shipping is FREE through FedEx. They have an impressive selection of fish, invertebrates, and corals, as well as aquarium supplies. Generally, they include quite a bit of information on the site about almost every animal they sell. Most of the prices are pretty competitive, but the things that are on sale are almost always GREAT DEALS! The company offers a very reasonable return/guaranteed live arrival policy.

In my opinion one of the best reasons to visit this site is the huge message board area. The forums are full of experienced hobbyists just waiting to answer all of your questions. No matter what it is concerning...being a new hobbyist, reef tanks, lighting, diseases, acclimation, feeding, compatibility, photography, nano tanks, seahorses and much more. More than 2million posts to look through! Chances are your question has already been answered! There are even classified listings!

The down side is they do require you to buy a minimum amount of $79.00. That is not hard to do, Believe me! And don't forget the shipping IS free! You can join their mailing list they will send you a list of fish and invert "Specials". If have bought from them before there is a repeat buyers program and you can get some stuff for free. They have a good reliable record with the aquarium hobbyist community at large. And they really do have a ton of repeat customers which should speak for itself...
